Extraction is only part of the assessment
Once a fragment is removed, the cylinder and remaining key operation need checking. A worn key or damaged lock may have contributed to the break, so simply copying a damaged piece may not address the cause. Avoid pushing the fragment farther in or adding glue. Discuss repair or replacement if normal operation cannot be restored reliably.
The assessment for snapped key extraction
After extraction, the cylinder and key operation should be checked. A worn or damaged lock may need repair or replacement.
Information to prepare
Avoid glue, improvised tools or forcing another key into the cylinder. Keep any broken key pieces and tell us whether the door is secure.
